Terra Johnson joined the Centennial Band program in 2015 as Color Guard Director. Ms. Johnson has worked with many area high schools as a guard instructor including Allatoona High School, Cambridge High School, East Paulding High School, Harrison High School, and Kennesaw Mountain High. She also provided instruction to Embrace Independent Guard.
Ms. Johnson has performed with various Color Guards for over 13 years. Groups she has performed with include World Class Guards at Carolina Crown Drum Corps, Crown Guard Winter Guard, Blue Coats Drum Corps, and Paramount Winter Guard as well as Georgia State's open class Winter Guard.
Ms. Johnson also works with local Humane Society's and rescue groups in the Cobb County area and has four amazing dogs of her own.
Justin Baker - Percussion Director
Justin Baker is currently studying Music Education as a senior at the University of North Georgia. He has performed in the WGI activity at the World Class level with Odyssey Percussion Theater and has performed with numerous professional and collegiate ensembles across the country.
As a percussion instructor, he has worked with various high school drumlines and percussion ensembles across north Georgia including BOA finalist, The Pride of Mill Creek. In addition, Justin has consistently taught private lessons to players of all ability levels and specializes in advanced concert and marching percussion.
He is currently employed at Centennial High School as the Battery Caption Head and in class percussion instructor.
Ryan Murphy - Visual Director
Ariel Stone is an English teacher at Centennial HS and started working with the Centennial Band program in 2017. Ms. Stone has worked with many other high schools on band staff including Dacula High School, Archer High School, and Effingham County High School.
Ms. Stone graduated from Dacula High School in 2012 and performed in the marching band for four years, serving as Drum Major her senior year. Ms. Stone earned her Bachelor’s Degree in English Education with a minor in music from the University of Georgia in 2017 where she performed with the Redcoat Marching Band as a member of the clarinet and baritone sections for five years. She was also a member of the Derbies Athletic Pep Band, the Wind Symphony, the Women’s Glee Choir, and Sigma Alpha Iota, a professional women’s music organization.
Ms. Stone currently lives in Monroe, Georgia with her two dogs, Koda and Zoe. When she isn’t teaching or working with the band, Ms. Stone enjoys reading, being outdoors, and eating tacos.
Paige Healey – Brass and Drum Major Instructor
Paige Healey is an Administrative Assistant at Perimeter Dental and joined the Centennial Band program in August of 2017. Ms. Healey has worked with brass and drum major students at Lumpkin County HS and Social Circle HS, as well as instructed at the Summer Music and Marching Band Camps for middle and high schoolers at the University of Georgia.
Ms. Healey graduated from Lumpkin County High School in 2013, where she marched with the LCHS Band of Gold for four years, serving as the low brass Section Leader her sophomore year and Drum Major her junior and senior years. Ms. Healey then continued her education at the University of Georgia, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies with a minor in Sociology in 2017. During her time at UGA, Ms. Healey was a member of the Redcoat Marching Band for four years, where she served as a baritone Rank Leader her sophomore year and Drum Major her junior and senior years. Ms. Healey says serving as Drum Major of the RCB has been her most rewarding experience because it gave her the greatest opportunity to serve the people and organization she cared for most. In addition to Redcoats, Ms. Healey also performed with the UGA Symphonic Band, Derbies Pep Band, Volleyball Band, and Basketball Band. She was also a member of Kappa Kappa Psi, a national honorary band service fraternity, and Sigma Alpha Iota, a professional music fraternity for women. Ms. Healey was a recipient of the Roger L. Dancz Redcoat Band Alumni Scholarship in 2015 and 2016 for her demonstration of leadership, musicianship, and performance in the Redcoat Marching Band.
Ms. Healey currently lives in Marietta, Georgia with her white tabby cat, Marvel. When she isn’t working, Ms. Healey enjoys hiking in her hometown of Dahlonega, playing board games with friends, and watching reruns of her favorite TV show, Community.
Across his seven years of experience in marching band, Kevin Hucks has performed as a percussionist in multiple ensembles across North Georgia. He acted as the center Marimba player for the University of North Georgia's Golden Eagle Band/UNG Winds from 2011 to 2017 and the principal percussionist for its Wind Ensemble from 2013 to 2015. At the professional level, Mr. Hucks performed with the North Georgia Symphony Orchestra from 2014 to 2016.
As an educator, Mr. Hucks has worked with percussion students as an instructor and clinician at several schools in the North Georgia area for the past five years, including Chestatee High School, Lumpkin Middle and High School, and Dawson County High School.
Mr. Hucks lives in Suwannee with two Schnauzers that bark too much.
Steven Walker began working with the Centennial Band program in 2011 as Director of Percussion Studies. Prior to that, Mr. Walker was an Assistant Director of Bands at Campbell High School in Cobb County.
Since 1998, Steven Walker has been an in-demand performer, clinician, and educator working across the U.S. though primarily in the Southeast. He enjoys performing and teaching Classical Percussion as well as Jazz/Pop/Rock.
Mr. Walker holds a Bachelor of Music Education and Music Performance from Kennesaw State University and a Masters in Jazz Studies from Georgia State University.
Mr. Walker lives in Doraville with his wife Jacky and his two step-children, Alexis and A.J.
